![]() ![]() If you are intending to use 4D planning as a BIM use in Navis, model elements must be subdivided in relation to the construction planning tasks. Either way, it is important to prepare the model before converting to Navisworks. It didn’t appear to significantly affect the export time or file size of the exported file.Revit to Navisworks conversion can be done in two ways, either exporting from Revit, where you will create and save a NWC file from your Revit Model, or by opening the Revit file with Navisworks, which will also create and save the NWC in the same location as the Revit file and then will add it to the NWF model. Autodesk suggests changing it to 5 or 10, but when I did it I made it a much higher number like 50.Down near the bottom, there’s a window that says, “Faceting Factor.” Change the number to a larger number.Navigate to the File Readers & select Revit. When the “Export scene as…” window pops up, click the Navisworks Settings… button at the bottom.Click on the Add-Ins Tab & select External Tools (should be on the far left). Here’s how to change your Navisworks Settings: Change your Navisworks Export SettingsĮxporting as a DWG is the best solution, but if that isn’t possible, or if you’ve already started exporting to Glue or Navisworks with NWC files, then this solution may work for you as well. In the DWG/DXF Export Settings, select the Solids menu, then change the button from Polymesh to ACIS. ![]() This will give your models that you export as DWGs curved lines that match nicely with Rhino, and will show up in BIM 360 Glue or Navisworks as a more curved line. When the DWG / DXF Export settings window pops up, navigate to the Solids Tab.Open your file in Revit & navigate (or create) to a 3D view that you want to export to Navisworks. Here’s how to change your DWG/DXF Export Settings: Here’s how to close the gap on that issue: Change your DWG/DXF Export Settings If you’re working on a project that requires LOD 400 design quality for curved wall or shape coordination, then you’ve likely noticed that straight out of the box, Revit doesn’t export a curved line to Navisworks or Glue as well as Rhino or other 3D modeling software does. ![]()
